Frequently Asked Questions

Submitting the approval form early in the process allows more time for review and internal collaboration so it is encouraged to submit it as soon as you have the relevant information available. However, the approval form must be submitted at least 21 days prior to the application deadline for the funding opportunity.

In order to complete the form, please ensure that you have the project description, a budget, a copy of the grant solicitation, any information about subawards of lead organizations, IRB status, and information about your anticipated time commitment.

That’s no problem! We understand that the application takes time to piece together. Working pieces of the application are fine to submit for the approval process.

After submitting the form, it will be reviewed by your supervisor or chair and AC member. After their review and approval, it will then be reviewed by the applicable Grant Services team.

The review process moves forward one step at a time, so approval from a previous step is required before moving forward. At any stage, the reviewer may contact you with questions or request changes.

After the final reviewer approves your submission, you will receive an email notification from Smartsheet. If your submission is denied at any point in the review process, you will immediately receive an email notification from Smartsheet.
